Austin NovratilRSD Super Hooligan Night - Costa Mesa, CA, USA - September 9, 2017

Former Under 21 National Champion Austin “All Throttle” Novratil was victorious in the Scratch Main Event in front of a packed house on RSD Super Hooligan Night at the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway.

Novratil started in gate two was able to get across previously unbeaten Gino Manzares to take the lead as they entered turn one. Novratil held a tight line through turn two, led the pack down the back straight and through the first lap. “Mad” Max Ruml emerged from the trio behind the leader to head the chase. Novratil didn’t turn a wheel wrong, though, and led all the way to the finish. Max Ruml held on to second, Manzares finished third, and Tyson Burmeister was fourth.

Max Ruml opened the heats with a victory ahead of Broc Nicol. Manzares defeats Fox in the second heat. Novratil started his evening his as he ended it, with a victory, this one in front of Dillon Ruml.

Round two began with Manzares defeating Novratil for his second straight win. Max Ruml made it two for two by beating Burmeister. Gage Geist ended the second round with a win over Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz.

Burmeister started the third round by beating Nicol. Novratil scored his second win in a row by beating Fox. Manzares concluded the heats by remaining perfect with a win over Max Ruml.

Fox led all the way to score the victory in the Scratch Consolation. Dillon Ruml finished second, Nicol was third, and Geist finished fourth.

“Spiderman” Mike Bloom led from start to finish and claimed victory in the Support Main Event. Michael “Scooter” Wells was second, Rohn Zellner finished third, Ron Davis was fourth, and Chet Kohler finished fifth.

The event was run in conjunction with Round Eight of the RSD Super Hooligan National Championship Series. The 21 hooligan races meant a scaled back speedway program with just the two divisions competing on this evening. Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell pulled double-duty by racing speedway and a hooligan. The Super Hooligan Main Event was won by 2000 AMA Grand National Champion Joe Kopp.
