Industry Racing, CA, USA - July 25

Tyson Burmeister used a brilliant move to score the victory in the main event and complete an evening full of fantastic action at Industry Racing.

Eighteen year old Gino Manzares made the best start in the main event but found traction and went wide in turn two. Under 21 National Champion Austin Novratil cut back and took the lead on the back straight with Burmeister right behind him. Novratil went to the inside while Burmeister went to the outside and found plenty of traction that propelled him around the leader as they entered turn one. Novratil went back after Burmeister but hadn't found a way past by lap three when Manzares, running fourth, went over backward exiting turn two and brought out the red flag. The race was awarded to Burmeister, Novratil was second, "Fast" Eddie Castro was third, and Manzares was declared fourth.

Burmeister kicked off the evening with a win over Steve Russell. Aaron Fox defeated Manzares in the second heat. Castro stormed under Blair in the final corner to steal a victory in event three. Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell beat Tim Gomez to end the first round.

Novratil started the second round by beating Blair. Burmeister held off Fox for his second win. Manzares defeated Castro in event 16. McConnell used the outside to pass Tyson Talkington for the lead and the win to finish round two.

Manzares began round three by beating Castro for his second straight win. Blair took the lead away from Russell and won event 27. Novratil went around the outside of Talkington for his second consecutive victory. Burmeister won the last heat over McConnell to remain unbeaten.

McConnell led the first lap of the first semi with Manzares and Novratil fighting for second. McConnell found too much traction exiting turn two the second time and looped on the back straight. Manzares led from the tapes on the restart with Novratil taking second.

The second semi was one of the best races in Southern California this season. Burmeister made the start with Castro passing him on the outside as they entered turn three. Burmeister was settled into second when Blair used the outside to overtake him at the end of lap two. Not to be outdone, Burmeister returned the favor when he used the cushion in turn four to retake second from Blair. Castro and Burmeister finished first and second, respectively, and transferred to the main event.

McConnell led the Consolation for three laps but Blair never gave up. Blair's persistence paid off when he found enough grip coming out of turn two the final time and took the lead and the victory from McConnell.

Eloy Medellin led from start to finish and went home with the victory in the Second Division Main Event. Northern California's Jamison Dilkey finished second, Danny Baker was third, and Jonni Jade finished fourth.

Dave Troutt led the Third Division Main Event for nearly three laps before Lewis Hughes took over the lead. Hughes made no mistakes on the final lap and was victorious. Troutt had to settle for second, Paul Thornton was third, and Rick Huspek finished fourth.

Dalton Leedy was the initial leader of the Youth 250cc Main Event. Leedy's time at the front lasted until lap two when Dillon Ruml passed him on the back straight. Dillon Ruml never looked back from there and won for the second time this season. Max Ruml finished second, Samuel Ramirez was third, Broc Nicol finished fourth, and Leedy was fifth.

Braydan Galvin carved through the field after starting on the 70 yard line and won the Youth 200cc Main Event. Michael Wells was second, Maverick Molloy finished third, Dryden LeoGrande was fourth, and Dylan Smith finished fifth.

"Lightning" Luke Whitcomb continued his winning ways with another victory in the Pee Wee Main Event. Jake Troutt finished second, Nick Dunn was third, and Jonas LeoGrande was fourth.

Chris Jones and Johnny Glover won both their heats and completed their perfect evening by winning the Sidecar Main Event. Dave Alexander and Casey Driggers finished second, Jeff Medberry and Josh Bennett were third, and Dual Anderson and Ethan Smith finished fourth.

BURMEISTER WINS INDUSTRY SPEEDWAY MOTORCYCLE MAIN – By Tim Kennedy

Industry, CA., Jul. 25 – Tyson Burmeister, a 28-year old 500cc Division 1 speedway cycle veteran started from lane two and won his second main event this season Wednesday night at Industry Speedway. More than 1,000 fans watched his impressive ride in the Industry Hills Expo Center Grand Arena. The race ended one lap early after a crash by fourth place Gino Manzares caused a red flag. He rose quickly and walked to the pits holding his right arm, which contacted the wall as he exited the second turn, leading to his fall. Officials called the event complete per the rule book because more than 50% of the race had been completed.

Burmeister, from Murrieta, became the third different race leader on the first lap and remained in front all the way in a youth oriented feature lineup. He won the first feature of the Industry 13 Wednesday nights series on May 30 in an exciting duel with two-time World Speedway Champion Billy Hamill. Burmeister was the only rider in a 16 D-1 field of experts able to score a perfect nine points this week by winning all three of his heat races. Hamill and Charlie Venegas, nine point scorers from last Wednesday, were absent this week. Hamill and his family were vacationing at Lake Havasu, AZ and Venegas was helping a friend complete a job.

Under age 21 US 2011 National Champion Austin "On the Throttle" Novratil, 17, placed second. Eddie Castro, 52, was third to uphold the reputation of age 50+ riders. Manzares, 18, was fourth and the only non-finisher. The hectic first lap had three leaders. Manzares shot into the lead from lane one as the four riders raced into the first turn. Lane four starter Novratil powered into the lead on the outside leaving the second turn, but lane two starter Burmeister shot past Novratil on the inside entering turn three and was in command for good by turn four. He scored a convincing victory as the battle became a duel for second between Novratil and Castro. Manzares faded to fourth on the opening lap.

Eloy Medellin, of Garden Grove, celebrated his 43rd birthday two days early by winning the 500cc Division 2 feature. Jamison Dilkey, a 16-year old Colfax High School junior from Auburn, made his first Industry Speedway appearance and placed a close second in the D-2 main. He is the 2011 Youth Division A Auburn track champion and the winner of D-3 (May) and D-2 (June) mains this season at his home track—Fast Fridays in Auburn. Shawn Eldredge, a D-1 rider and Fast Fridays referee, also raced at Industry for the first time and scored one point. Lewis Hughes, a 42-year old Duarte resident, won his first 500cc D-3 feature in only his second night of racing at Industry. It was only his sixth race (including four at San Bernardino) since he completed a training course taught by Billy Hamill.

With seven sidecar teams present, Chris Jones subbed as driver of the No. 1 sidecar for his injured brother Joe. Jones won the four lap 1,000cc main with his sidecar rider Johnny Glover. They led all four laps. Other main event victories went to Dillon Ruml, 13, of Huntington Beach, in a five lap, five rider 250cc youth main. It was his second consecutive victory. Braydan Galvin, 13, took the youth 200cc main in another five lap, five rider event. Fan favorite "Lightning" Luke Whitcomb, 6, of Anaheim, won his sixth consecutive pee-wee main on his No. 27 50cc mini cycle. He again started the four rider field with a 40-yard handicap because of his growing proficiency. He won his the first heat and then fell hard in his second heat race. He rose slowly, restarted that race and finished second to newcomer Jonas LeoGrande, 6, of Grand Terrace. Jonas fell on lap 2 of the main while leading fast-closing Whitcomb and placed fourth.
