AUBURN, CALIFORNIA, September 10, 2010

Billy “The Kid,” Janniro is officially the man to beat in speedway racing, and there has not been a lot of that going on recently. Janniro saved the best for last as the 2010 speedway season winds down and the championships start, with a stellar Friday night of racing at Fast Friday’s Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn, winning the Fast Friday’s 2010 Track Championship. Sixteen of the best Div. I riders with the highest season points were seeded against each other each starting from a different starting gate in 20 scratch races. The racers scored three points for a win, two points for second and one point for a third place finish. The rider with the highest score at the end of the evening is crowned the track champion.

Janniro finished the regular 2010 Fast Friday’s season with the highest season points and came into the competition with recent perfect performance wins being crowned California State Speedway Champion September 1 at Industry Speedway in Southern California and Janniro also took first place in the Golden Gate Speedway Wine Cup with a perfectly scored night on September 4 in Vallejo. Janniro did not disappoint Fast Friday’s fans in Auburn and beat all comers, picking up a perfect 15 points to beat reining Fast Friday’s track champ and veteran speedway rider Charlie Venegas who ended the night with 14 points. Venegas rode well, turning in a good performance, perfect except for a loss when he faced Janniro in event 12. “It was a really competitive night of racing, Billy was pretty perfect, my draw was a little unlucky against him, but to miss by one point and be second to Janniro is like a dream,” said Venegas. Janniro rode with the skill and experience of a champion, and again on this night was unbeatable. On the horizon for Janniro is the big prize-the 2010 USA/AMA National Speedway Championship which he won in 2008. The big show-down is at Fast Friday’s on October 1, and is the ultimate prize in American Speedway racing. Janniro is set and is quietly and confidently prepared to bring his best game against all for the national championship. “I’m still a little sore from the crash here last week, still not over it, but by the time the national comes around-we don’t have too much racing before then and hopefully we can put something together,” said Janniro.

Charlie Venegas finished second with 14 points, Bryan Yarrow ended the night with 12 points for third, and Alex Marcucci and Tommy Hedden each ended the night with 10 points.

Division II and Division III pitted 8 of their best riders in two heat races and two final main events. The Division II track championship was won by Charles Haines, Richard Fehrman was second, Dustin Berdolt was third, and Steve Rowett was fourth.

In an exciting Division III main event Auburn’s Glenn Scott was crowned the Div. III track champion in a crash marred finale. Billy Parino, seriously looking for a track championship, was involved in several crashes and penalized with additional yardage for aggressive riding in two restarts. When the dust settled officials awarded Scott with the championship. Billy Vaughn was second, Parino was third and Robby Northam was fourth.

The always exciting sidecar racers made their final of four appearances at Fast Friday’s thrilling the near capacity crowd. The team of Joe Jones and Jimmy Olsen won the main event. Jones took one heat race to fulfill a promise on their last visit to give Fast Friday’s announcer Mike Rooney a chance to hang on to the back of one of these powerful machines to the crowds delight.
