Big Time Speedway, Prairie City, July 7, 2012

The second meeting of the season for Big Time Speedway at Prairie City took place on Saturday July 7 starting at noon. The weather was very hot, providing challenges for the track maintenance staff, the riders, their machines and this reporter. However all survived and we had a great afternoon of racing.

Grand Marshall Billy Janniro kicked off the event with a few laps to show how easy it looks, followed by the pledge of allegiance, the National Anthem and the show was on the road.

The event was arranged without the top guys, to enable the mid and lower first division plus Division 2 and Division 3 riders to shine and shine they did.

Bryce Starks was in a class of his own, unbeaten all afternoon. Danny Faria had a great afternoon, beaten only by Bryce in the qualifying rounds. Some riders struggled with the conditions, several fell, some several times, but everyone got back up and enjoyed the experience.

Youth D2 winner David Faria.

Great effort by Dylan Wagner and Daniel Casey.

Pee Wee races were dominated by Matthew Casey, followed by Greg Moore and Chris Casey Jnr.

I heard a rumour that someone is looking at running Speedway at Napa next year. Does anyone know anything about this?
