Local riders Kenny Ingalls and Bart Bast both picked up their first main event wins of the Fast Fridays motorcycle speedway season Friday night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn.

Ingalls led all the way after getting a good gate off the starting line in the scratch main event and held off a talented field to grab the checkered flag as the fastest man of the night. Leading the pack in all four laps, Ingalls rarely looked back checking on the positions of the other riders.

“I concentrate on my own race, I glimpse back out of the corner of my eye, but that’s it,” Ingalls said after the race. “That was awesome.”

Bast finished second, Felicio was third and Essary was fourth.

In the handicap main Bast showed his riding experience, composure and skill, talents that have made him a crowd favorite at Fast Fridays for years. Starting on the 50-yard line, Bast took the lead from Bryce Starks in lap four, winning his first main event of the season ahead of JT Mabry, and Russell Green

“Racing every week out here, you kind of know what’s coming, and I know these guys and how they ride, but there is never really a plan, it’s never the same,” Bast said.

Absent from this week’s meeting was 2008 USA National Champion Billy Janniro, who captured both scratch main events in week one and week two.

Joe Jones and company brought their hot sidecar action up north as the ever-popular sidecars made the first of four appearances at the Gold Country Fairgrounds track Friday.

“It’s awesome to have the fan support we have here at Fast Fridays. We will be having a three-round national championship this year and hope to have one round here,” said Jones, who owns five national sidecar titles and took Friday’s sidecar main event with Jimmy Olsen.

In the Youth Division Main Tyler Warren held on to the lead for the win in front of Thomas Reich who finished second and Tanner Kane who finished third.
