Eddie Castro scored a dramatic victory in the Advanced Performance Muffler Main Event at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville.
Two-time Youth National Champion Ricky Wells got the best start from gate three but was immediately put under pressure by Castro. Wells calmly rode the inside line while Castro used his familiar outside line to chase down the 15 year old. Castro was able to get alongside the youngster and pull ahead at times on the straights, but Wells would take the lead back in the corners. On the last lap Wells was able to increase his lead slightly in turns one and two. He continued to lead on the back straight as Castro made one last desperate attempt for the win in the final corner. Wells remained on his low line while Castro practically scraped the boards in turn four. They dashed to the line with Castro winning by the narrowest of margins. Wells graciously accepted second place, Neil Facchini finished third, and Dale Facchini was fourth.
Castro was victorious over Mark Adams in the first of the Advanced Performance Muffler heat races. Wells beat Dale Facchini in the next heat for his first win. Castro was leading his next heat when he suffered an engine failure which handed Wells his second win. Dale Facchini beat Adams in race 15 for the win. Neil Facchini scored his first win while Adams was the runner-up for the third straight race. Wells made it three wins in a row with a win over Billy Lyons in race 23. A change of machinery couldn't prevent Castro from getting his second win in the next race.
In the final heat, was leading Castro for two laps before the veteran passed him on the outside on the back straight before dropping down in front of Wells entering turn three. Wells then spun around and went down and brought out the red flag. Wells was penalized for the restart, but easily got into second behind Castro who cruised to victory. Wells and Castro transferred directly to the main.
The Facchini Brothers finished one-two in the Last Chance to earn the final two spots in the main with Neil leading Dale to the checkered flag.
Billy Braden won both his heats and led the Gold Star Equipment Rental Support Main Event from start to finish for the victory. Tony Bracy finished second, Kim Stevens was third, and Steve Bowen finished fourth.
Krystal Cramer led all four laps to win the Battery Mart Youth Main Event. Jason Ramirez finished second, Gino Manzares was third, Joey Holt finished fourth, and Dylan Black was fifth.
Jeff Medberry and Chris Levitt held off the challenge of Mark Adams and Ashley Thill to win the Sidecar Main Event. Neil Facchini and Travis Henderson finished third and Kirk Williams and uMatt Davis were fourth.
