Charlie "The Edge" Venegas
July 8, 2006 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas turned in his third perfect night in four weeks with another dominant performance at Industry Hills Speedway.

Venegas and Tommy Hedden both entered the main with perfect scores. Hedden was riding a nine-race winning streak and the distinction of being the only rider to beat Venegas in the past three weeks. Venegas was first off the line, but Bryan Yarrow went down in turn one and all four rider were brought back for the restart. Venegas exploded from the outside again and led Hedden down the back straight. Venegas, with Hedden's outside pass in last week's main fresh in his mind, chose to ride the outside despite holding a comfortable lead. With the lead secure as he took the white flag, Venegas used the inside line on the final lap and cruised to his nineteenth win in his last twenty races at Industry Hills. Hedden finished second, Yarrow was third, and Josh Larsen finished fourth.

Shawn McConnell got the evening started with a win over Eddie Castro. Venegas beat Mark Dwyer for the first of his five victories. Shaun Harmatiuk beat Bobby Krips for his first win. Hedden beat Mark Adams in the next race. Larsen completed round one with a win over Dale Facchini and Bobby Schwartz who suffered from mechanical problems that would plague him all evening.

Castro began round two by beating Krips. Venegas beat Larsen for his second win. Yarrow got his first win by beating Dwyer. Harmatiuk beat Robbie Sauer for his second win. Hedden finished the second round by defeating McConnell.

Venegas started round three with his third straight win. Hedden matched Venegas's three wins by beating Dale Facchini. Neil Facchini beat Greg Ayers in race 27. Larsen scored his second win by holding off Krips. Yarrow finished the heats with his second win.

Larsen led the first semi before Hedden used the cushion to go around him on the third lap for the lead and the win. Venegas won the second semi with Yarrow coming in second to take the other transfer to the main. McConnell was awarded the win in the Consolation when Harmatiuk fell on the final lap and brought out the red flag.

Eloy Medellin led the entire Second Division Main Event for a solid victory. Billy Braden finished second, Randy Skinner made his return to speedway and finished third, and Kim Stevens was fourth.

After coming close on two different occasions, Travis Henderson finally won the Third Division Main Event and did so in impressive fashion. DeWayne Stark was second, Hugh Randolph finished third after winning his heat to make the main, and Allen Doss was fourth.

Gino Manzares started on the 10 yard line, took the lead on the third lap, and pulled away for the victory in the Youth Main Event. Russell Green finished second, Rocco Scopellite was third, Trevor Sargent finished fourth, and Joey Holt was fifth.
