Joe Heye - Champion of the Night

Despite all the heavy rain over the last two weeks, evidenced by a still waterlogged
centre green. the track was in good condition and stood up well to the 27 race program.
Speedway Photographer Don Proctor braved the infield on corner one,
and got some great photos of the action. Here are the first three of his shots.

Joe Heye was unbeaten in D1 and completed his most successful night to date by taking a
comfortable win in the main event. The two Johns - Mercier and Dmytrow, got their seasons
off to a good start by reaching the main event with solid riding. On the other hand Andy
Harris was unlucky not to make the final when he lost a chain while leading in his last
qualifying heat.
Frank Dittmer, newly promoted to D2,was the final qualifier for the main but made his best
gate of the night and led from start to finish for a solid win and an encouraging start in
the class.
D3 honours again went to Kyle Legault who has now put together a string of ten wins a row.
Young Aaron Hesmer opened some eyes with a sparkling performance. Fast smooth controlled
riding brought him easy wins in three D2 heats and a handicap semi. He led the handicap
main for the first two laps and seemed to have things well in hand when he slid off which
let fellow D2 youngster Jeremy Musson through to take his second handicap main in a row
and earn himself a spot on the 20 yard line for next week.

There was a good rider turnout at Paris last night!
The old crew is slowing down, and the new young riders are taking over! Guy Fafard and Gaetan Carignan are just shadows of what they used to be on the track. Both said
they were
tired at the end of the night. The six hour drive to the track from Quebec probably did not help either!
We also had one rider from New York, and Greg Comstock drove in from Wisconsin!
He showed a more consistant form tonight, leading almost to the flag in one of his heats.
Also in division one were Gary Hesmer, Andy Harris, John 'Crash' Dmytrow, Freddy Legault, Greg Comstock, John Mercier, Joe Heye, and in division two, Aaron Hesmer, the
Musson Brothers, and more.
Aaron is FLYING on his laydown! They put him on the zero yard line in the
handicap,
and he was a half lap ahead ( and gaining ) of Andy Harris at the end!
Only some minor falls through the night, and the track was a little
unpredictable,
so there was some suprises through the night in some of the passes. Andy Harris lost a cam chain on his main bike, and put him out of the final. Joe Heye won the main event, followed by John Mercier, Gary Hesmer, and John 'Crash' Dmytrow. Joe had the race to himself after the first lap, Gary had held second until the final turn.
Gary suddenly went out to the fence, and John Mercier took the opening and
passed just before the flag.
