"I'll tell you the story of my first I.C.E event...
It was the national in Denver 1989 or 1990. I started off with caution, as you would expect. Warren Diem was the fastest thing on ice. Scott Ormiston almost as fast until his chain derailed flat out down the straight! Where did he go next, you ask? Not around the corner. His ankle soon became shattered, very shattered.

I was on next, with a fair start in 2nd, went high and "Hammerin'" Mark Hannah came in and took me out. I hit the wall, my head slammed the ice and then my bike kept spinning around knocking my head on the wall 3 times before I pulled the ripcord. They carried me of on the stretcher as I waved to the crowd. They had me in the pits holding up fingers; How many? How many? They let me finish off the night.

I was unstoppable: I could ride but i could not think. I still don't remember a thing, but I got to see a video about a year after. Ice can be wild...and that's just one story."
